National Sustainable Public Procurement (NSPP) Training Programme - supported by DEFRA and administered by WRAP.

Barbara Morton is reviewing and developing training materials for the NSPP training programme. The training programme is being rolled out to English local government, the further and higher education sectors and the health service. The NSPP training was piloted in the north-east of England.

The North-East Improvement and Efficiency Programme (NEIEP).

The north-east Improvement and Efficiency Programme (NEIEP) has used the MTF approach to deliver Sustainable Public Procurement training in the North-East of England. The north-east was the first region to host a briefing session for local authoritiy members and senior officers. The current round of training includes a half day 'surgery' session in which Barbara will answer questions and deal with issues arising from the implementation of SPP amongst local authorities already trained.

GLA Group Responsible Procurement benchmarking execise.

Sustainable Procurement Limited and LRS Consultancy carried out a responsible procurement benchmarking exercise for GLA group in summer 2010. This work benchmarked the GLA group against a number of organizations from the public and private sectors. It resulted in a report and recommendations delivered in June 2010. The report highlighted best practice in the areas of 'Equality and Diversity, and 'Skills and Employment' including Apprenticeships.

United Nations agencies Sustainable Procurement training.
UN_training

Barbara Morton has developed and delivered training, commissioned by UNOPS, to a number of United Nations Agencies. Traing was delivered in Copenhagen in May 2010 and involved procurement and other staff from organizations including UNICEF, World Health Organization and UNOPS.

European Commission DG Environment with ITCILO.

Sustainable Procurement Limited has recently been involved in providing training for procurement practioners from around Europe. Barbara Morton trained two representatives from each of twenty member states in two rounds of capacity building. This work was delivered through the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation (ITCILO) on behalf of the European Commission DG Environment.

Sustainable Public Procurement in Urban Administrations in China (SuPP-Urb China).

The SuPP-Urb China project supports achieving the environmental targets of China's eleventh five-year plan and promotes sustainable consumption at the city level. At first the project will focus on municipal Public Procurement Centres in Tianjin, Qinhuangdao and Lanzhou. More >>

Conference on innovation and sustainable public procurement.

Representatives from across Europe will meet in Finland in November. Among the topics for discussion will be how public sector contracts can be made more accessible to small businesses. The international Seminar will be held in Helsinki (11-12 November 2010), organised by the City of Helsinki and ICLEI's European Secretariat. More >>

The Danish government makes use of SPP to implement CSR goals.

The Danish government produced a Corporate Social Responsibility policy document in 2008. The document recognises the importance of implementing sustainable public procurement to achieve CSR goals. The document is available from the UN Global Compact web site. More >>

The Energy and Resources Institute(TERI) with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) conducted a scoping study on the State of Play of SPP in India in May 2007. More >>
